In this article, we’ll discuss how you can open a demat & trading account with Angelone. So let’s start & understand what are prerequisites for opening an account in Angelone.
Required Documents for Angelone Demat Account
You need to provide the below-mentioned documents for Angelone account opening. In online mode, you can take a photo through a mobile phone for convenience.
- Passport
- Driver’s license
- Voter’s ID
- Bank verification letter with photo
- A photo ID card issued by a central or state government body
- ICAI, ICWAI, ICSI, bar council etc, issued identification card with photograph
Note: You need to upload all the above in JPEG (image)/PDF format with a maximum size of 5 MB. Make sure you provide all valid documents otherwise your demat account request will be rejected.

Annual Maintenance Charges (AMC) for the first year are 0. However, the following are the charges for customers from 2nd year onwards.
Non-BSDA (Basic Services Demat Account) Clients – Rs. 60+ GST billed every quarter. For BSDA Clients – If the holding value is less than 4 lakh, AMC is 0. If the holding value is between 4 lakh and 10 lakh, AMC is Rs. 100+GST billed every year.
₹0 brokerage upto ₹500 for first 30 days* . Then ₹20 or 0.1% (whichever is lower) per executed order, minimum ₹2
While trading with Angelone under the I-Trade Prime Plan, equity delivery trades are free of cost. For intraday trading on BSE, NSE and MCX, and F&O you will be charged Brokerage 0.01% or up to Rs. 20 per order traded. irrespective of the order size, the brokerage charges is Rs. 20 per order (Maximum).
Online Angelone Account Opening Process

1. Mobile Verification
Enter your mobile number. The mobile number must be unique, i.e. there should be no prior Angel One accounts with that number. An OTP will thereafter be sent to that number for confirmation.
2. Email Verification
Enter the ‘Email‘ address or ‘Continue with Google‘ for email account to start the KYC verification. Once the OTP is confirmed, you can then enter the email ID that you want to register with. In case you enter your email ID manually, an OTP will be sent to the email address which you have to enter within the next 30 minutes, in order to confirm your email ID.
3. Pan Card Verification
Enter your PAN number then check on the box below to authorise Angel One to fetch your KYC. Click on ‘Proceed to Digilocker’. If your Aadhaar is linked to both your PAN and mobile number, then you can have your PAN and Aadhaar details fetched from your Digilocker.
4. Access to Digilocker
In the next page, confirm your consent to allow Digio to fetch your personal details (like name, Aadhaar number and date of birth) from Digilocker and transfer it to Angel One. Just check the box below and click ‘Allow‘.
5. Aadhar Authentication
For Aadhaar authentication, enter your Aadhaar number and perform the CAPTCHA authentication (i.e. entering the text in the image), then click ‘Next‘. For Aadhaar authentication, enter your Aadhaar number and perform the CAPTCHA authentication (i.e. entering the text in the image).
6. Bank Verification
Complete the bank verification by selecting one of the option from ‘Add bank details manually‘ or ‘Verify with UPI‘ and proceed to next step. Do the payment of Rs 1, for authenticating the account which will refunded in 24hrs.

Finally, upload your signature. Enter your digital signature afresh by signing within a dotted rectangle on the phone screen. If you think the signature is not good enough, you can do it again by clicking on ‘Erase All’. Once you are done with the signature, you also have to put ticks on the checklist that confirms that you are not a politically exposed person and that you are a resident of India.
9. Personal Details
Once you complete your signature, you will be redirected to derivatives activation step, which is optional. You will be redirected to the screen for automatic fetching of bank account statement or the screen for manual document upload, depending on the bank account you entered.
10. Annual Income Details
Choose your income category from the given options annual earning range. Tick on checkbox if you want to receive notifications on Whatsapp. Choose your income category.
11. Select Employment Type
Select the employment type from the given options such as government, private, business and others. Next, you will be given the option to activate DDPI or Demat Debit and Pledge Instructions. It is an extremely beneficial tool that will help reduce the effort required to trade shares. Read how to activate DDPI by clicking here. Here you can also choose to add Margin Trading Facility or MTF as a service.
12. Additional Details
Finally, choose your gender, marital status and whether you want your securities settled monthly or quarterly.
13. Add Nominees
At this point, you may choose to add a nominee to your demat account by clicking on “Add Nominee”. If you want to add nominee, provide the following details of nominees such as Name, PAN, D.O.B, etc of the nominee.

15. Complete your E-sign
At this point, if you have a Digilocker, you can proceed to perform an e-Signature. This will take you to the NSDL website, where you have to authorise the NSDL e-Gov to use your Aadhaar/Virtual ID for the e-sign. Thereafter, enter the Aadhaar ID and click on “Send OTP”.
Once you complete the E-Sign, the KYC journey is complete and you will be redirected to the Thank You screen. Your account will be activated within 3 days.
In addition to your own demat account, you can open multiple demat accounts if each of them is with a different joint holder. However, the same combination of joint holders cannot be repeated with the same depository participant.
Angelone Account Opening Status
In the meantime, you can check Demat & Trading account opening status after contacting customer support. Registered email id and Mobile number are required to check the application status.
In order to sell share from your demat account, you must submit a duly filled POA form available. For printing POA forms on your side, collecting the required documents and sending it back to Angelone may take 3-5 days.
Once you apply for the Angelone account opening application, you can expect the account to be activated within the next 24 – 48 hours. The processing time depends on the verification of details provided in the Account Opening Form.
